Increasing Traffic and Leads Through Blogging

I have written a couple articles about how a blog can be your first website or web presences in order to help you get a quick jump start with your business.  I also want to discuss how blogging on a consistent basis help you build targeted traffic for your business or lead site and help you grow your business and build relationships with prospects and current customers.

Ok, so more on how to actually blog!

As you probably know or have “heard” blogs are  proven to be very effective  for building a network marketing business or any business for that matter. The key to generating mlm blog traffic is to post useful, targeted, and engaging content frequently by submitting your blog to directories, search engines and social bookmarking sites. So lets discusses how to generate ongoing mlm blog traffic.

Blogs are excellent for online network marketing.. In network marketing, the key to success is to build and maintain relationships with people who you can help.. The informal nature of blogs makes them easy to read and so the response is also more than what is generated by a normal website. It also takes the pressure off of you to be a Pulitzer Prize winning author!  All you need to do is speak/write about  topics of interest to you and your target audience.

Blogs are easy to produce and their heavy content makes them perfect for getting business. Also, adding new content to a blog is very easy. Network marketers need to communicate with customers and prospects on a regular basis and reviewing and adding new material to a website in the traditional sense is often difficult and time-consuming.

Blogging remedies this issue and has appeal to many people due to their simplicity and dynamic nature. Building relationships with prospects and customers and informing them about tools, solutions and products can be done easily through postings on a blog. It is a great way to educate and motivate existing team members.

The subject of your MLM blog can be anything that will benefit and educate network marketers and business opportunity seekers. Your blog can also be targeted to get new customers  or prospects by talking about important issues they may have, and then providing a solution.

Blogs work two ways, because of the fresh, desired content, over time your search rankings will increase bringing more traffic. The second way, is that when people do reach your site or blog, they will get to know “you” and they will see you as an expert and contributor to helping them solve their problems.

There are may ways to tun your blog, so mix it up. If you do not want to post articles or run out of business or product related content,  you can  post about personal likes, hobbies, etc, and even talk about your own unique experiences of the product or program that you are promoting, on an ongoing basis. You could also write your own unique review of the program, mentioning both the major benefits and features of the program, and any slight faults inherent in the program for added credibility readers will appreciate your honesty as most so-called reviews are nothing more than hyped-up sales pitches. This will give your blog more credibility, which is an excellent way to increase mlm blog traffic.

There are literally a ton of options!

You can even have guest writers or hire ghost writers if you need even more content, or your readers are interested in content you do not have an expertise.  Remember, every piece of content you post, is helping you in search engines, build credibility, and build relationships.  One last note, to get the best results for search rankings and traffic, have a purpose for your blog.  Plan out your posts and articles.  Be sure to use keywords in them that people you want to attract will be searching on.  Also, post your content to other social media sites and link back to your blog.

If your blog is on a separate site from your main site, be sure to point to your main lead generation or product site, from your blog posts.

Have fun with it, and take action!

Using a Blog for Instant Internet Presence

If you are just starting your business but  don’t yet have your own business website (non replicated), you can get one that is free, easy to maintain, and can be set up in about thirty minutes, and that is personal to your personality and goals.  Even thought your business opportunity or network marketing company might give you a replicated site, you still need your own personal site that you can control content so that  you can show prospects and customers who you are and tailor your message to them, and then drive them to an ecommerce site to order or sign up.  How can you do this in 30 minutes or less? With a free blog!

Exactly what is a blog? The word is short for “web log”, and refers to a website that is set up like an online journal: you can “post” to your blog as often as you want.   You can add pictures, video, mp3, and graphics to your posts. Blogs are one of the most interactive media forms available online and with the comments feature, visitors can leave notes on your blog to let you know what they like or dislike about your products or services, and what they would like to see in the future. (you can control and monitor comments, and I recommend that you do!)

Blogs are not used only for business. In fact, there are millions of personal blogs that Internet users have created just to connect with other like-minded souls. The popularity of blogs has spawned a whole new subsection of the Internet that is commonly called the “blogosphere” and involves bloggers (people who blog) linking to other blogs, reading and commenting regularly on other blogs, and enjoying many visitors and commenters in return.

You can also use blogs effectively as a free business website. The most popular blog software online is provided by a company called Blogger, which is owned by search engine giant Google. To get started right now setting up your free Blogger website:

  • Go to www.blogger.com
  • Click on the orange “Create Your Blog Now” link near the bottom of the page.
  • Enter the requested information. You will be asked to select a user name, password, display name, and a valid e-mail address. Choose your display name with care, as it will often be the first thing Internet users see. Your display name will be included at the end of every post you make.
  • Click on “Continue”
  • Enter a title and an address for your blog. The title of your blog can be your company name, or some creative variation of the products or services you provide. The address, or URL, should be something that is easy for people to remember and type in. The URL for your blog will be http://youraddress.blogspot.com.
  • Select a template design for your blog. Blogger provides a variety of different blog styles, and you can change your template at any time down the road.
  • Click on “Continue”

That’s all there is to it! Your now in business with a new blog and it is now set up and ready to use.

What is Content Marketing

Content marketing is simply using good quality content that is useful and of interest to your prospective customer or opportunity seeker, to get their google-seoattention, inform them, and ideally send them to your site or phone number for more information or to buy.  The advantages to content marketing, is other than time creating it, is free or low cost, and you can add your own personality and style to start building your brand online.

If you are currently marketing your business online and have not put a great deal of thought into the content on your website, you may be making an incredibly costly mistake. The content on your website is invaluable for a number of reasons. First of all it gives visitors to your website their first impression of your business and the products and services you offer. Well written  and thought out content can be instrumental in selling your products and services to your potential customers. Finally, the content on your website can influence the size of the target audience you are able to reach by helping to improve your search engine rankings.

The quality of the content on your website is  important is because visitors to your website will likely form their initial opinions of your website based on the content on your website. If the copy is poorly written, does not hold the visitors attention and does not promote your products and services well visitors are likely to exit your website without making a purchase. This does not mean that you have to be a Pulitzer Prize winner.  If you are passionate and knowledgeable about your product, service, or opportunity, there is no one better qualified to write about it!

However there is a couple instances where you may want to hire a writer.  One, if you need more content than you can personally produce, and two, if you need sales copy.

Well written sales copy should  be persuasive and  compel visitors to the website to purchase the products or services offered on the website.  Sales copy is different then content that is simply to inform, teach, or build relationships, and it is not a strength of many people, so this is an area that you will most likely hire someone to write for you. This is important especially if the main purpose of the website is to sell the products or services. The sales copy should accurately describe the products or services offered, stress the importance of these products and services and compel the visitor to make a purchase. All of this should be done without appearing to be blatantly advertising the products and services. Writing this type of copy can be quite complicated and typically requires hiring a sales copywriter who is experienced and skilled at writing this type of informative and persuasive content. Sales copy written by an amateur or an inexperienced writer will not likely be as effective as copy written by a professional with a great deal of experience in Internet marketing.

Finally, content marketing is not limited to just your site.  Publish your content on blog sites, social media sites, article directories and more.  This helps you get more targeted search traffic back to your website, and ideally more conversions!

Lead Generation TipsThe Internet provides distributors of network marketing companies a cheap and powerful way of advertising. By using online marketing opportunities, you can expose your company and products to people looking for similar opportunities.  Here are a few ways to take advantage of what the Internet has to offer.

An e-zine is an electronic magazine or newsletter that you send regularly to your website’s subscribers. Make sure that your e-zine is filled with valuable and helpful information about your business. Try to have a personality and flow with your readers. Craiglist and other classified sites are  a great place to advertise both products and  your business opportunity.  Just read their guidelines and follow them.  You do have to be consistent in posting on these sites and send to your website to capture their information and offer them more information.

 4. Pinterest

Pinterest is great for generating interest for products.  No matter what you sell Pinterest Leadsin your business, you can take creative pictures of the products in different instances and pin them to Pinterest. This is just a few.  Remember it is better to pick just a couple of the available options and focus on them.  Do not try to do everything at once or you will be overwhelmed and see little results.  Keep track of your efforts and give each method you choose a fair 30-60 day shot.  If you do not see results, go look at others in your industry who are having success in the methods you chose, and try to tweak your efforts to be similar.

Web Cams

I know some people seem to be wild about vidoe chats and web cams.    I don’t happen to be on  of them.

I’ve worked online from home for years.  I love the ability to hope across the hall to my office, jump online and chat with my team, or prospects.  I do not want to feel like I have to get dressed up and put on make up to be online.   I choose to work in comfort, that’s why I love my home based business.

Occasionally I will flip on my web cam when someone calls, but only if I’ve done my makeup and hair to go out or just come home.    A lot of times I’m online in my casual clothes or even PJ’s.  That is the beauty of a home business.

I guess web cam’s are good occasaionally but certainly not all the time.   What do you think of Web Cams?  Do you use them all the time, Occasionally or never?

Last Post – Empire Avenue

Just in case it seems strange, the last post was one we had to make to link a blog to Empire Avenue. I’m learning all about this new network that ties all of them together in one.

If you have a blog, You can join Empire Avenue and then link your blog there. Once you put in your Blog information, they request that you make a post with that funny code…..hence, the last weird post.

I guess I’m accepted and all hooked up. Hey everyone If I can do it, so can you. I’m sure no tech geek, but you learn as you go.

Keeping Up A Blog

Blogging has been interesting to say the least.   On thing I learned is if you are writing a Blog, you have to be willing to keep it up.  They say you should have at least one post or more per week.

I have learned that you can write a couple of articles ahead of time, if you’re away to have them auto post.    If you’re using a Word Press Blog when you write your article, instead of pushing to button to post, press the calendar and select the date you want it to go out.    That’s great for people like me that love to travel.

Blogging is just like anything else, you get started, and make it a habit.   If you keep on doing it, over time it will be come a habit.

Blogs are fun to learn about.   I used to use blogger.  However, recently found out there are many more features when you use Word Press.  It has all sorts of cool tools built in.

Just this week I was speaking with my friend Ben and mentioned I saw many people that had blogs with signatures.    He said that was an EASY thing to do.   In my mind, I thought, “yea right” and then told him what I thought.

He laughed and said he could show me in a few minutes.  So we quickly called up a webinar screen, logged into my admin.   There right on the left is a menu called plug INS.   If you don’t see one that says “signatures”, then click on “add plug in” and choose one that says signature.

This takes you to a free site where you can choose from many signatures or even create your own.    You can then use it with your blogs.  I think they look cool and are much easier to do than you’d ever imagine.  Try it you’ll like it.  You can’t break it.

Word Press Blogs

I’ve been learning a lot about “real” blogs.  This one is being done with word press.   I’ve learned that if you want to created a blog, you need to keep it up and be consistent.    I’ve also been told it’s best to use Word Press rather that Google Blogger. While Google Blogs are free,  they don’t get as much attention, or rankings.  At least that is what I’ve been told by those in the know.

Since I started this blog last month, I’ve found it’s not as hard or mysterious as I thought.   I acutally hired someone to set up this site, but never started using it because I was not quite sure how or what some of the things here meant.   As they say a confused mind does nothing, so for the first month or so, I didn’t start to blog.

I was talking to my good friend Ben.  He got onto a Go To Meeting webinar with me and showed me what all the things inside meant.    There are some categories down the side here that I’m not 100% sure of yet, but I think I have the typing and posting down pat.   I also learned that I don’t have to look at the screen with all the funny HTML codes.   All I had to do was click on the other tab that said visual and it looked just like a word processor.

I also learned ot insert photos.  That was not hard at all, in fact it was just the same as uploading pictures from any place.

One thing I did notice, is I was getting a huge amount of comments on my blog.   They went to a little folder where I was to look and say if they were legitimate comments.   Some of them looked real, but Ben pointed out that about 90% or more were spam.  I was really surprised by that, but he explained to me that people do that  thinking they will get more traffic to whatever they are peddling.

I guess I don’t understand why people spam like that.   I would never purchase anything from someone that sent me junk mail.   I think if everyone did the same thing, the junk would slow down or go away, as it would not be profitable.

If you’re new to blogging, and using this same system,  to add posts you simply pick the category that says “add posts”.  Real original.    You can do as I did if you want and have different categories, that you are writing about or just do a blog on just one thing.   SInce my mind is always thinking of new and different things, I chose to do multiple categories.

Word Press is kind of neat.    If you want to start a blog, I encourage you to give it a try, and see how you like it.   It’s no where near as hard as I had imagined.      Give it a try.
