Mentors and Gurus

I’ve noticed over the past year or so, there are more and more “social media experts”, mentors and gurus cropping up online.   They have some impressive sounding videos, blogs, or even courses they offer for sale.

Have you ever wondered why you would need to share your hard earned cash with them?  What will they teach you?  Many of the lessons they are sharing can be found free online, or at a local library.

Instead of telling you the truth, they all want you to follow them.

If you are looking for a mentor, take time to check out the background of those claiming to be coaches or experts.  What have they accomplished that they can teach you?   What are they selling?

ASK QUESTIONS!

If they are in the field of Network Marketing, what company or companies are they with or have they been with in their past life?  What success or failure have they had?   Can they give you references of those they have helped succeed that actually are making a full time living at it?    Are they making a full time living?

Unfortunately online, they can build fancy web sites, and make themselves look very successful.   Many times the opposite is true.   They maybe hiding in a dump  or a trailer someplace, dead broke yet looking for their next prey.  Don’t let it be you.

If you are looking for them to mentor and coach you on how to build a Network Marketing company, wouldn’t you want to know that they have actually built one and made decent money at it?

How can anyone mentor you in success if they have never been a success?   Would you rather listen to someone that learned, and did it, or someone that just claims to be an expert?  Do your own homework.  Don’t buy into everything they want to sell you.

I see an awfully lot of people that I personally know online, selling themselves as mentors.  They sound good cause they tell you what you want to hear.  Unfortunately, most of  those I know have never been successful themselves, yet they are trying to sell others into following them.

I’m just amazed at how many social media experts are cropping up.  Funny thing most of them have pages that look alike.  That’s because they bought into a “system” and now they are trying to get others to buy in, so they will make money when you buy all the stuff they recommend.

Use common sense folks.  You don’t need to buy into all these things they are selling you out here.   I work in this industry full time, and make a decent living.   I don’t buy all the courses, leads, dialers, ads and junk they are selling.   You don’t have to either.

If you’re willing to go to work, you can build a business without those gurus and mentors.   I have never charged anyone for advice or help, and I never will.   I learned most everything on my own, read books, listened to tapes and just stayed focused and on course.  I did it, and I know if I did it, anyone can.

Upward and onward.

Get More Business And Referrals

Are you growing a business?  Would you like to learn a simple and easy way to get and keep more customers and clients?

Whatever you do, if you want to have your clients remember you, you have to take time to show appreciation. Keep your name in front of them.   Get their birthdays, and find out about their families.  Be sure to send them cards without logos.  Send them thank you cards, holiday cards and thinking of you cards.

I have a business I use, that always does that.  I just recently received a card from them reminding me to set my clock back for the time change.  They send me cards at odd times of the year, and of course when I have a friend looking for their type product, I’m quick to refer them.  After all, they remembered me after the sale.

I think that is very important.   On the other hand, I made a large purchase and bought a car for cash last year.  I let the sales person know about how I expected to hear from him after the sale and didn’t want to just receive advertising messages.   Over the next year, the only time I heard from them was when there was with a sales letter or things with their logo.  Needless to say when I had a friend ask me where I purchased my vehicle  I told them I’d not recommend them.

It’s all about relationships, and those that build relationships AFTER the sale are those that win.  If you’d like to learn some ways to do that in your own life, there is a free call every Wednesday night at 9 PM EST.  If you’d like to learn more, you can tune in on the web or dial in. Simply click to  register online.

Enjoy the calls.  Hope you learn lots to help you grow your business.

Could Network Marketing Be The Answer?

What if you build a business and it was highly successful?

What if you could be financially free?   Would you be willing to invest 3-5 years working steadily 10-15 hours extra a week if you knew you could create independence?

I truly believe those willing to go to work and take our industry SERIOUS enough to put their nose to the grindstone and work can be successful.  Key word is “WORK”,  and being consistent.

Anyone that wants to can make it work, if they are willing to learn and grow.  Compare building a business it to college. You go to college  and it’s MEGA Bucks.  My grandson just is finishing his second year in College.  It’s very pricey.

Even with scholarships,  it still costs about $10,000 or more for  two semesters.   Our state has a program where they pay about 75% of tuition  if you qualify.  Even with that,  you still have to pay for books and other things and the costs add up rapidly into the thousands of dollars.

Now think of this…..at the end of years of paying all this money out,  they get a piece of paper.  They then are turned lose to go out and search for a JOB.  If they are one of the lucky ones that finds one, most get to pay back all the student loans. If they are fortunate and didn’t have to borrow too much they may have their loan paid off in 4 or 5 years.   They also start at low wages and have to compete with hundreds of others for the few jobs that may be open.

What if instead, they put the time spent studying and money spent for books and tuition into building a network marketing business?   What if they worked it for the same hours as class and spend the studying time in personal development.  What if they built a business, slowly over the years?

I think they would have spent a LOT less money and after 5 years, be making good money if they worked it.

Think about that.

I truly believe our industry is the answer for our future.   We have no major over head.  We don’t have to search for a JOB where we make someone else rich.    Here our income and potential is up to us.  Network Marketing is the future.   Have you ever considered it.

People can work from their homes, and help others do the same.  People can start out part time to create some extra income.

Our industry is truly a blessing and a way to reach out and help others.    I know there are those out there that claim it does not work, but if you ask them, it’s because they signed up and had a few people tell them no, so they quit.  People don’t like to blame themselves to they blame the industry for their lack of success.

Next time someone tells you Network Marketing doesn’t work,  dig deeper. As questions.  Ask them things like what experience they had,  how hard did they work?   What company did they choose?  As in any industry there are good and bad things.  Perhaps they picked a fly by night and didn’t do their due diligence.   I’ve had my own share of bad things but the good certainly way outweighs the bad.  I’m so thankful I didn’t let the negative people keep me from building.

Network Marketing is my full time income.   If I had not chosen to build a business, I’d be living today on peanuts.   I’m very grateful for this industry.

We’re all have a chance to be build a solid future.  We can over come the challenges of our bad economy and together we can make a difference.   If it’s to be, it starts and ends with each one of us.

See you all at the top one day!

Recruit Up

Too often when building a business, people look for someone they feel superior to.  They look at people that are doing nothing.  They look for people that are dead broke because they think they will the ones that want to earn extra income.

Unfortunately, you’ll find that those that need extra income the very most, are usually the ones least willing to do anything about it.   They come home from their job, and don’t want to do anything.   They watch TV reruns while falling asleep in their lounge chair.

Have you ever watched people win a lottery and become a millionaire over night?   If you check up on those same people 8 or 10 years later they are dead broke again because they never learned how to manage money.  They go on a spending spree and their lives change.

It’s sad but true.   If you want to build a business, look for those at are already more successful than you.  Look for those that are already successful.  Learn to recruit up.

Call your chicken list.

A chicken list is a list of people you are afraid to talk to or those you think may not be interested.   These people are usually those you know that already have a lot of money, or appear to have the lifestyle.  They have the big homes, the boats, fancy cars and all the toys.   They appear to have it all on the surface, however, if you look behind that surface, they may be heavily in debt and working long hours.

Look for people on your “chicken list”.    These would be people that look up to.  These would be those you think are already more successful than you.  Successful people tend to be better candidates, because successful people are a bit wiser and smarter and open to opportunity.   Don’t be afraid to show them.   Ask them if they  are open to looking at a new source of income.

The worst thing that could ever happen to you when talking to anyone is they may say no.  No’s are a blessing.  No means the timing is not right and they may not be ready now.  No’s are freedom.  They free you up to talk to others without having to hang on to that person right now.

No’s are those you put on a later list.  Check back with them in 6-12 months.  Things may have changed in their lives and they may be ready for an chance to do something different.   Don’t be afraid to ask successful people to take a look at your opportunity.   They are the ones that will be more open to taking a look.

Learn to love no’s.    The best people in the world that teach how to “Go For No’s are Richard Fenton and Andrea Walsh.   They have some amazing books, and tapes on the subject.  I think you would enjoy them. They make learning fun.

If someone says NO,  thank them. They did you a favor.  Move on to the next person.  Get enough no’s and the yes’s will come.

Get out that chicken list and go to work and watch your business grow!

It’s taking me years and years to learn that communication and keeping in touch with my customers, and clients is the ONE thing I need to do on an ongoing basis.   Too often you make a sale, and then send a thank you card and the person never hears from you again.  That is a HUGE mistake.

Last year I purchased a brand new car for cash.   I mentioned to the salesman that it’s really important to keep in touch with customers and asked him how he did that.   He muttered a bit about how the dealership would send things out for them.  I showed him an easy way to do that himself to build his own name, which would get him more business.   He indicated to me he was going to do that.

It was a year last month, since I bought this car.   Over the years, the dealership sent me a few sales pitches, like come in to buy this or that from them.  They send reminders and coupons and stuff like that.   I did NOT get even a thank you card for them.   I was surprised because I had paid cash for the car.  You’d think they would want me to buy another car from them and/or refer my friends.  Sending me sales pitches and coupons just does not have the same effect as sending out a nice heart felt card or thank you.

Some people just don’t get it, so I thought I’d have my car send them a card.  I took a photo and my car sent them the following photo card.

My car didn’t even hear back from them, so needless to say, when I buy my next car; they won’t be getting my business.    We found a new service center for the cars oil changes as well.

I had someone ask me a few weeks ago where I bought my car.  I told them but also told them I certainly would not recommend them.   You see, keeping in touch with clients, and building a relationship with them is very important.  IF you keep in touch, you win.  If you, you lose.

If you want to get some free tips and ideas for keeping in touch with your clients, customers, family or even friends, please feel free to join us on a weekly webinar.   No matter what business you’re building we’ll give you some great tips, ideas, and easy things you can do, to get and keep more referrals.

I can also show you an easy way you can keep your name in front of your clients 4-5 times per year, for around $5-6 and about 5 minutes per customer.   I’d love to help you grow your business no matter what it is you’re growing.    My mission is to help others with their future.

All businesses need to get and keep customers to survive.   Hope you’re is going strong

Don’t Give Up Before You Start

When you’re growing a business, you will find that people will come and go.  Most all will be all excited when they join you.  Then comes the 4 letter word “work”.

People work in their own time at their own pace.  Some go fast and others go slow and still others never start at all.  Those you think will do the most usually do the least and visa versa.   There is nothing you can do that will change that.  You can show them the way and then it’s up to them.

To often people quit before they get started.   Many times they will have sponsored one or two before quitting.   Sometimes one of them build a business and the quitter loses out.  It’s almost sad.

When you are building an NWM business, if you want to be successful, make a vow never to quit or give up.  Just stay focused and keep on working and it will pay off.

Think of this like you have  a deck of cards.  If I put the deck out in front of you and shuffled it, you know there are 4 aces in the deck.   I start to deal you cards one by one.    What you don’t know is if you will get all 4 aces on the first 4 cards, or if you will not see an ace till the last 4.   That’s how NWM is.    If you stick around long enough your aces will show up.   We’re looking for aces.    We don’t know how many it will take us to get to the first one but we keep on looking and we will find them one by one.

Aces keep going, aces are winners.  You can be an ace, if you stick with it and keep going.   Don’t ever give up.

When I got in this industry 15 years ago, I vowed I would NEVER quit or never give up.  So when I ran into tough times and challenges,  I have gave myself the option of quitting.

I ran into the same thing everyone else did.  Things like people that set appointments and didn’t show people.  I ran into many companies and people that lied, people that did nothing, or those that quit before they started.

I never had an option of quitting because  I knew I’d never give up.  I borrowed and kept the quote “quitters never win and winners never quit”.

Today I’m very thankful that I never gave up.  I’m thankful for this wonderful industry that provides me the freedom to come and go without having to ask a boss.   I can travel and enjoy the freedom I always wanted.

I know if I can do this you can as well.  Just get started and never give up.

No Chasing

Don’t chase after those that have said they have no interest in your business.  This is a sorting business, and you sort thru many no’s to get the yes’s or right people.

[caption id="attachment_249" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Don't Chase Anyone"][/caption]

Have you ever heard the saying ” A person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still?    That is very true.  It’s not worth your time if you have to chase anyone.  It’s not worth your time trying to drag someone along or into your business.  If they are not willing, move on talk to someone else.

Too often people talk to one person, that says no or shows no interest, and they spend the next weeks or months trying to change their mind or chasing after them.   Don’ t do that.  You’ll wear yourself out.

If the person happens to be a friend, a family member or people that are in your life that you have to see and deal with from time to time, don’t keep on trying to save them.  Sometimes they just don’t get it.  I feel sorry for those that are so close-minded.   I see so many people struggling, living paycheck to paycheck, yet not willing to do anything about it.

It’s your job to share, and show them how to get out of that mess.  If they don’t get it, there is nothing you can do.  You have to move on.   You have to leave them behind.

Send them a card from time to time if they have a special event, or just come to mind, but NEVER a send sales piece.

Let them chase you, if they ever decide to do anything.     Let them know you’re still around, but don’t talk about your business to the anymore unless they ask you.

There are many people that need extra income.  There are many struggling out there.    Share what you have with them.  If they are not ready, go on to the next person.  They are waiting for you.

Have fun and enjoy what you do.  Keep on sharing and growing and in time you’ll find the people right for your business.

Down the road you’ll make new friends and business partners.   They are waiting for you to go find them.

See you at the top.

Holidays Are Coming

Years pass by very quickly.  Holidays come and go but as the years go holidays seem to come faster and faster.    Can you believe we’re only about 3 months from another Christmas season?   Well we are!   It is 3 months EXACTLY from today.

It’s time to start thinking about getting ready for the hustle and bustle of the season.   By the time you go shopping, wrapping and doing all the chores to decorate, you’re tired before the fun times.  Then you have parties, and extra baking, traveling and planning for the season.  One of the tasks I USED to dread, was card sending.   Now I have fun with it.  I send funny cards I create myself  in seconds.  I can send them to one person or large groups.

Normally at this time of year whether you celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, most people send cards and/or gifts.   They either send Christmas Cards and/ or Hanukkah cards.    Sometime if money it tight, they look for lower priced cards and send them in place of a gift.  A nice card, with some family photos can be a real winner.

Also you start to think about getting those holiday greeting cards out as well as gifts to mail out of town.   What a chore.  I know I used to dread that as one thing I’ve done all my life is send out holiday greetings to all my clients and customers.    About 6 years ago I started using an amazing service, which allowed me to do this much easier.  Prior to this it was 3 or 4 weeks of getting my cards done.  Now I can send hundreds of cool cards, with photos and even gifts and be done in less than an hour.

If you’d like more details on the service, feel free to contact me anytime, or fill in the banner below, and I’ll let you try it out for free.   Make this season one of fun, and take the chores out.

Hope you’re ready for another fun and delightful season, and never forget the reason for the season.

Have You Ever Had A No Show?

Do you ever get discouraged because someone promised to look at your opportunity,  or set an appointment with you, and then didn’t show up.   Did you ever have a time where you had an appointment to call someone, and you confirmed the time, even sent them an email reminder and then when you called they didn’t answer the phone?   Did you ever drive to meet someone  or invite someone to go with you to a meeting and they were a no show?

Welcome to the real world.  That happens to many that chose to build a business.

In todays fast paced environment,  people just don’t always keep appointment they make like they used to years ago.    Life happens.   Sometimes the no shows are legitimate, and other times they are people that just are scared you might “sell them something” and they don’t have the guts to say NO.  People LOVE to buy but they hate to be sold.

Have you ever gone  to a store where a sales person followed you around always wanting to “HELP”.   Probably today that does not happen as often, as sales forces have been cut to the minimum, yet  they used to do that a few years ago.  I always hated it when you didn’t have time to look at what you wanted cause they kept making “suggestions”.

People don’t like to say no,  so they LIE to you.  They make excuses or they tell you they FORGOT. Maybe something came up but more often, they may have gotten scared.

Have fun with it.  Just make a list of all the excuses people use, and then tell them to look at the list and say  ”Excuse # 22,  to save  them time and.

People come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and mentalities.    A home business is not something that everyone will see themselves doing,  That’s just a fact.  They may know nothing about it at all OR they may have been burned  in another business once, so they think all business are like that.    We know that’s not true yet  the mind is a funny thing.

If you think you can or if you think you can’t you are right!   Don’t let anyone stop you EVER.
