Today is Halloween. I know there are tons of folks around that LOVE this holiday. They like getting dressed up and having scary parties. All the amusement parks have special events to pull in more money for themselves.

Unfortunately, I’m not a great fan of Halloween. I have never liked it. As of years past, many go to events instead of trick or treating, however, we still have to go out and buy a bunch of candy for those that do show up. Last year we had a total of 3 trick or treaters and I had bags of candy left.

I make it a point to try to buy stuff I don’t like so I’m not tempted to eat up the leftovers. After the holiday I have to track down kids to try to get rid of the candy.

I want to wish those of you that celebrate this holday, a Happy and Safe Halloween.

Warren Buffet’s Answer To The Economy

I was sent the following interview and I totally agree. I have always felt our congressmen should be no better than the average person. His views here have good merit.

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

“I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only
3 months &8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971…before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present &future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Securitysystem, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.

Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

If you agree with the above, pass it on. Please keep it going.

Driver’s License

A police officer stops a blonde for speeding and asks her very nicely if he could see her license.

She replied in a huff, “I wish you guys would get your act together. Just yesterday you take away my license and then today you expect me to show it to you!”

Do You Follow Up?

A month or so ago, I attended a home show. I was looking for several different things I wanted for my home. I was very interested in researching ventors with the items I was interested in.

I stopped, and talked to many vendors. I entered their “drawings” and put my information into their bowls and asked that they contact me. I was totally amazed at the lack of follow up.

Yes they sent me home with literature, and phone numbers, etc. They paid for brochures and marketing materials they were handing out in their booths. I took home items of interest and then I waited to see who followed up with me. I believe the fortune is in the follow up, and if I express an interest by stopping by their booth, the next move is theirs.

Out of the last show, with hundreds of booths, only TWO (2) vendors gave me a call, none emailed, and none sent me anything in the mail. This was a show that cost them several thousand dollars for a booth for 3 days.

It never ceases to amaze me when I see the lack of follow up. Why would anyone spend that kind of money and then not bother to follow up?

The 2 that did follow up with me, had 2 different products I wanted. I had them out to the house, and also researched their references and backgrounds. Since they took time to follow up I ended up buying from them.

From one I purchased a $900 item, and the 2nd placed a $4,000 order. There were still other things I’m interested in, however, I would never do business with anyone that didn’t follow up.

If you’re in business, you definitely need to follow up. The person that follows up is the one that gets the business.

How about you, do you follow up? If not, why not? You can pick up the phone and call someone or send direct mail following your event. If you don’t take time to follow up, someone serious about buying will buy from someone else.

I’m still in the market for a few more products, however, I refuse to do business with anyone that does not take time to follow up. I’ll keep on looking until I find people with enough sense to follow up.

The fortune is always in the follow up.

Are You Building A Business Or Playing?

I’ve heard many people say they are “working hard building a business”. I question at times by what they mean by working hard. I see them playing on facebook, or playing online games. If you’re building a business, always ask yourself, “Are you building a business or playing around?

If you’re building a business, you must be out marketing your product or service. You must be gathering new customers and following up to give good customer service. You must pay attention to your business and treat it as a business.

If you have a full time job, and plan on building a business on the side, you must commit to spending time working and growing that business. You must plan on putting in 1-2 hours or more a day, gathering new customers and sharing your business.

If you’re not getting any place, take a look at your own actions. What did you do this week to work on building your business. Be honest with yourself.

If what you’re doing is not getting you where you want to go, it’s time to take a look at your activities. Don’t kid yourself, or make excuses. I’ve always said you can make money or excuses, but never both.

Spend quality time on your business and over time you will be successful. If ONE person can succeed, then so can you if you are truly serious about making things work.

Take Charge Of Your Life

Security comes when you take charge of your life. Are you in control of your life or does someone else pull the strings?

Do you have a job? Do you have a boss you report to? Is your JOB secure? These are all things to think about.

If you want to be in charge of your own life, you need to make plans to do that. Don’t count on that Job being their forever. Create a plan B.

There used to many things you could do, however, life has changed over the past 5-10 years. Investments today pay very little interest and carry great risks. Banks are almost at 0% interest. I think my bank pays .6% which is a little nuts. I dont’ know how much lower they can go.

In the past many people invested in Franchises, or build their own brick and mortar business. I do think that in today’s world that is not an option for most people.

If you’re talented you can make and sell some sort of craft or products from your home to create an extra income that you can start to save up for retirement. There again that takes time and work, and being able to find buyers.

Another option is to look at the field of Network Marketing. In this type field, you can get started usually for less than $500 and if go to work and stick with it for several years, you can create an income stream that comes in and grows.

I’ve been in the Network Marketing industry now for 15 years and I’m very glad I found it. It’s given me great freedom and the ability to travel and enjoy life.

Set a plan to take charge of your own life, and them work the plan and make things happen.

Have you ever thought about retirement? You may be young but one day everyone reaches an age where they may want to retire.

When that time comes, will you have enough money to live on? Retirement is the time when many end up living on 50% less than they what they struggled to live on when they were working.

Have you given that time any thought? Today many people start to save money in 401K’s or other savings to save up for later in life. Unfortunately, many times these people borrow or take money out of their funds for a new home, or sending children to college. When they use the money, they end up paying a lot of extra taxes. They also find that they can’t afford to repay themselves so their savings go down.

What will you do in the future when you are retirement age? Do you have a Plan B?

Today it’s not enough to just have a JOB. Many that had good paying jobs, found they were replaced when their boss could get someone to do it for less. Jobs are no longer secure. You can’t depend on having job with benefits for your entire life.

Take charge and do something about it. Think about creating a business of your own that will build over time and pay you, so you can enjoy life, and also have extra to save for the “golden years”.

If you think you’re too young to think about retirement, think again. Those years will go very fast. Blink and 10 years rolls by. The older you get the faster time goes.

Start to make plans for what you will do when that time comes. It’s well worth thinking about and planning early.

Make A Difference

Would you like to make a difference in someone’s life? Do you keep in touch with old friends and family and remember special occasions?
I know many people tell me they want to stay in touch, but they get too busy in the hustle and bustle of every day life to do that. It’s sad but true.

If you care about those in your life, and really want to make them feel special stay in touch. Reach out and send them a card and tell them you love them Take a quick look at our cool new video that will show you how you can easily stay in touch.

If you like what you see, it’s easy to use and you set up a free account. Just like Netflix, you can set up a simple subscription for less than $10 and be able to send out your love to those you care about with the click of a mouse. Try it, I know you’ll love it.

Make a difference in someone’s life today and surprise them with a card or a gift. When was the last time you send someone a card just to suprise them or tell them you loved them? Why not send one today? Make a difference. Do it now.

Wating on my I Phone 5

When do you think Apple will be releasing the new Iphone 5? I’ve been waiting, and waiting and waiting.

I still ahve an IPHONE 3 GS. I upgraded it and right after getting locked into a new contract for 2 years, out comes the Iphone 4. GRRRRR

Well, my contract expired now earlier this year but I don’t want an Iphone 4 when I know as soon as I get it the next model will be out. So here I wait.

Rumor had it that it would be out early in September, but that doesn’t appear to have happened. It’s not past that time, and still no announcement. When it finally does release, I have another few weeks to wait, because I’m not about to go out and camp outside the stores over night just to be the first. I’ll wait till the crowds die down.

Still, I’m anxious for them to get this show on the road. Come on Apple, we’re waiting!!!!!! Hope to see it soon. How about you?
